I am a first year teacher in the Recovery School District in New Orleans. I am encountering many struggles but there are two that I could really use some help with. First, I have many struggling readers in my classes and a handful of non-readers. We all know that social studies texts are the hardest to read and comprehend so I am having a hard time reaching those students. Also, with the lack of schools and teachers, we are accepting more and more students each day. My class sizes are close to 30 now I am having a hard time with management. Any suggestions would be great!
